When is online gambling forbidden?

Gambling on a website that does not appear on the white list issued by the Gaming Commission is prohibited.

 

Deliberately gambling on an illegal website is punishable. If the public prosecutor decides not to prosecute, or if the public prosecutor has taken no action within six months then the Gaming Commission may impose administrative fines on organisers as well as players. The fines for players vary from €26 to €25,000 (these amounts may be doubled in case of a repeated offence or when minors were involved). For organisers the fines may be as much as €100,000.

Am I wrong if I play on an illegal gambling site?

If you notice that a gambling site is not on the white list issued by the Gaming Commission, or if you suspect that a gambling site is illegal, then you should contact the Gaming Commission at info@gamingcommission.be .

 

The Gaming Commission may put the gambling site on the black list and send a report to the public prosecutor.

Am I allowed to promote a gambling website?

Only in case a legal gambling website is concerned. As from 2011, legal websites are licensed by the Gaming Commission. The list with legal gambling websites is available on this website.

Am I allowed to promote a gambling website that hasn't got a licence of the Gamng Commission?

A gambling website is a virtual gaming establishment. It is only allowed to promote licensed gaming establishments. It is not allowed to promote a website (.net or .free) through which games are being played that do not use money as the stake and thus are allowed, but that – for example – through their choice of name are clearly connected to a paying website (.com) without a licence.
